Online Chaperone v1.20+: Step-by-step Disabling the Program

  1. As explained above, the correct way to stop the Online Chaperone program is by selecting the "Disable program" checkbox on the General tab of the configuration menu. Remember that Online Chaperone’s monitoring application functions separately from the configuration application. After the "disable program" checkbox is selected and saved, it will take approximately one minute for the main program to respond and shut down. It is important to note that reopening the configuration menu and unselecting the "Disable program" checkbox does not automatically start the background monitoring process. The OLC will start in accordance with the options selected during installation. If you kept the default components settings, the Online Chaperone will begin monitoring when Windows is launched. Otherwise, you may use the Start Menu shortcut.:

  2. Although it is possible to disable the Online Chaperone program using Windows Task Manager, this method is not recommended. Disabling the program using the Windows Task Manager may not end all related Online Chaperone processes and there is a risk of altering the program’s configuration.
